Caricature & Comic Bibliography
No other art genre is the source of interest of so many different research areas as the cartoon. Art history, history as well as media, political and social sciences are some of the academic disciplines which study the cartoon in detail and multiple levels. The goal of this bibliography is to capture the interdisciplinary research literature on cartoons and satirical journals, and to make all publications searchable by author’s name, title, and keywords.
As part of the programme "Specialized Information Services for Art”, financed by the German Research Foundation (DFG), the bibliography Caricature & Comic is maintained and managed by Heidelberg University Library. The titles proposed by scholars from different disciplines are catalogued and subject indexed in the Southwestern German Library Network (SWB) using normative data from the German Integrated Authority File (GND). The database has been implemented with the open source software VuFind Discovery.
In addition to the common search options and function, the Bibliography Caricature & Comic and Web 2.0 will be providing additional functions.
