arthistoricum.net – ART-Journals

Publish your academic journal as open access – with professional support, international visibility and long-term availability. scroll to top

With ART-Journals, arthistoricum.net Publishing offers a publishing infrastructure for academic e-journals in the fields of art history, photography and design. You can launch new journals or convert existing titles to an open-access model.

A prerequisite for publication is compliance with standard academic quality standards, e.g. through a peer-review process or a responsible editorial team.

Open Access – professionally implemented scroll to top

We support you in transitioning your journal to (Diamond) Open Access – technically, organisationally and conceptually.

We provide the initial setup and hosting of the Open Journal Systems (OJS) software – a service offered by the international Public Knowledge Project – as the technical platform for your journal.

OJS covers the entire editorial review and publication process of an academic journal. This allows all steps to be conveniently organised via a web browser – from the submission of a manuscript through the management of the peer review process to the publication of individual issues.

We implement any design customisations you require. This enables – within the technical framework of OJS – a bespoke, multilingual website for your electronic journal.

In addition, we offer an introduction to the use of OJS, its functions and workflows, either in person at Heidelberg University Library or online.

Visibility and citability scroll to top

All articles and journals receive:

  • a DOI for the permanent identification of individual articles
  • an ISSN for the journal
  • standardised metadata for reference systems and search engines
  • long-term archiving
  • support with applications, e.g. for the DOAJ

This ensures that your content is discoverable internationally, citable and integrated into academic infrastructures.
