Literature on Art Trade in the German-Speaking Countries until 1945

As part of the international cooperation project „German Sales 1901-1945“ almost 10,000 auction catalogues from the years 1901 to 1945 from Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the countries occupied by Germany during the Second World War have been digitized and put online since 2013. The secondary literature relevant and relevant to the indexing of the contents of these catalogues was merged into the bibliography „Bibliographie zum Kunsthandel im deutschsprachigen Raum bis 1945“. In addition, the bibliography is constantly being expanded with the aim of creating a comprehensive and up-to-date interdisciplinary database of research literature on the expropriation policy and the role of the German art trade in the Nazi era. To a lesser extent, the topics of provenance research and restitution efforts are also dealt with.
