Cranach Digital Archive
Cranach Digital Archive is an initiative by the Museum Kunstpalast Düsseldorf Foundation and Cologne University of Applied Sciences, dedicated to the digital indexing of the painting inventory of the Cranach family. In collaboration with institutional co-operation partners the research portal has made accessible art historical, technological and scientific information since January 2012.
In the Footsteps of Cranach
Twelve German towns are hosting touristic and academic events to give an insight into the history of the Cranach family.
The Wittenberg Cranach-Höfe, the home and workshop of the family, is one of the central sites in the life of the Cranach family. It has been restored by the Cranach Foundation and today is used as an art and communication centre.
Lucas Cranach the Younger’s 500th birthday will be celebrated in the context of the Luther Decade with numerous exhibitions and events. Apart from the theme year „Image and Message“ in Thuringia the great state exhibition of Saxony-Anhalt for the first time focusses on the works of Lucas Cranach the Younger.
