Photography

The Photography portal brings together information on the history and theory of photography, as well as on contemporary trends and photographic practice. It supports research into photography across its various fields by providing access to historical publications on the subject, compiling findings from research projects, and highlighting (virtual) exhibitions—including those outside the academic sphere. A “geography” of photography—that is, an overview of archives, collections, and museums in Germany and abroad—can be found on the portal, as can a “bibliography” in the broader sense, meaning an overview of libraries, specialty bookstores, publishers, and journals. Finally, readers can continue their reading or research on, with, and through the numerous specialized portals and online platforms, image databases, and image services that the Photography Thematic Portal brings together in a comprehensive overview.
