Podcasts

Podcasts are increasingly being used as a tool for science communication to make new research findings accessible to both the specialist community and the wider public.
The large number of podcasts produced in recent years by museums, universities, research institutions, media companies, publishers, independent producers, and cultural initiatives illustrates the relevance and growing popularity of this publication format.

Against this backdrop, the Specialised Information Service arthistoricum.net has compiled its first systematically curated selection of art history-related podcasts, highlighting the institutional and thematic breadth of this audio-based publication format and providing a good overview of the relevant offerings in this field.

Following the example of the scientific podcast #arthistoCast – the Digital Art History Podcast, which is hosted and archived by the Heidelberg University Library in the context of arthistoricum.net, the sustainable publication and archiving of podcast files in the multimedia database heidICON and their presentation in the thematic portal are to be expanded in the future.
