French caricatures
Satire magazines and caricatures from the Franco-Prussian War (1870/71) and the Paris Commune: in its image database HeidICON the Heidelberg University Library records and subject catalogues illustrations and caricatures of the Parisian satire magazines La Caricature, Le Charivari, L'Eclipse, Le Grelot, Le Sifflet, La Scie, La Lune, La revue comique, Le rire, Le Fifre und Le Fils du Père Duchêne sas well as the Collection de caricatures et de charges pour servir à l'histoire de la guerre et de la révolution de 1870-1871  a collection of carictures and pamphlets from the estate of London book-seller N. Trübner in nine volumes. The pictures of the time before and during the Franco-Prussian War and the Paris Commune are freely accessible online and can be researched using different search parameters. The editing is being undertaken by the Heidelberg University library with the support of Deutsche Forschungsgesellschaft in the context of the project "Digitalisierung und Erschließung illustrierterKunst- und Satirezeitschriften des 19. und frühen 20. Jahrhunderts" (“Digitalization and subject cataloguing of illustrated art and satire magazines of the 19th and early 20th century”) (currently under construction).
