Exhibitions

Search for historical art exhibitions in the arthistoricum.net catalog. Our exhibition search space provides you with a continuously growing database of national and international exhibition events.

In addition to details on participating individuals and organizations, exhibition venues and buildings, and exhibition dates, information on contextual source material (e.g., catalogs, reviews, ephemera, websites, etc.) and—where available—exhibited items is also provided. The exhibition database adb.arthistoricum.net, which indexes, secures, and networks research data on art exhibitions, serves as an input source.

SLUB Dresden
As part of its efforts to provide digital specialist information for art history, SLUB Dresden is digitizing and cataloging ephemera from its own holdings. A particular focus is on the collection of exhibition ephemera, which was donated to SLUB by the F. C. Gundlach Foundation in Hamburg. The collection includes invitations, flyers, program materials, and accompanying materials for national and international exhibitions with different geographical and temporal focuses. The materials integrated into the exhibition search room to date comprise partial collections relating to Saxony, New York, and Paris, and are being expanded successively.

Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)
Since its founding in 1929, MoMA has been one of the world's most important museums for modern and contemporary art. The integrated dataset, created by the MoMA Archives as part of the Exhibition History Project, documents all known exhibitions held by the museum between 1929 and 1989. All available information has been included, such as participating artists, curators, organizations, locations, and time periods, as well as the respective link to the exhibition website in the MoMA museum archive, where some historical photos and documents are available in digital form.
