Germanisches Nationalmuseum Nürnberg

The Germanisches Nationalmuseum is the largest museum for cultural history in the German-speaking region. As a member of the Leibniz Association it is a research and educational institution focusing on German and European art and cultural history. The museum has 23 collections, a historical archive, the German Art Archive holding gifts and bequests from the visual arts, a numismatic collection and a graphic arts collection (Department of Prints and Drawings). It particularly excels through its broad as well as interdisciplinary approach and operating principles. The research library contains more than 650,000 volumes in the areas of European art and cultural history and is open to the public. Finally, the Institute for Art Technology and Conservation is one of the largest institutes of this kind in Germany.
