DFG network "German Schools of Decorative Arts"
In April 2025, the scientific network "Die deutschen Kunstgewerbeschulen: künstlerisch-handwerkliche Ausbildungsinstitutionen im langen 19. Jahrhundert" ("The German Schools of Decorative Arts: Vocational Training Institutions for Arts and Crafts in the Long 19th Century") was established. It is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation). The network is a fixed, transdisciplinary group that consists of 19 members. Together with guests, they will discuss schools of decorative arts in six working meetings until 2028.
The first meeting took place from October 16-18, 2025, in Berlin.
The second meeting is being organised for May 2-4, 2026, in Stuttgart.
The third meeting is planned for December 3-5, 2026, in Munich.
