Graphik Vernetzt Working Group
In March 2011, the Graphik Vernetzt Working Group was founded during the conference "Kupferstichkabinett online" in Wolfenbüttel. Its members include experts from some 70 graphic collections in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France and the Netherlands (museums, libraries, archives, etc.). The aim of the working group is to agree on common digitisation standards and to develop strategies for the further digital linking of graphic collections. It provides exchange of experience and mutual support in digitisation projects.
The Deutsches Dokumentationszentrum für Kunstgeschichte - Bildarchiv Foto Marburg operates the Graphikportal on behalf of the Graphik Vernetzt Working Group. The aim of this union catalogue is to present the holdings of as many graphic collections as possible and to make them retrievable according to scholarly requirements. For this purpose, adequate contextualisation is provided, which organises and classifies the objects of individual collections and places them in a broader context. Graphic works, which for conservation reasons can only be made accessible to the public to a limited extent, achieve a significantly higher visibility on an international level and thus underline the scientific and social relevance of graphic collections.
