About us

The Forum Art History of Britain and Ireland (FAHBI) is a network open to scholars working on the art and architectural history of Britain and Ireland. Members of FAHBI carry out research on numerous aspects of British and Irish art and architecture from the Middle Ages to the present. The Forum spans a wide range of subjects, bringing together scholars from different professional backgrounds such as universities, museums, galleries and the art market. The network aims to facilitate interdisciplinary, academic exchange and to stimulate collaboration between continental European, British and Irish art historians.

Annual meetings of FAHBI are to take place alternately at the German Congress of Art History and at workshops and study days in various locations. Additionally, members of FAHBI seek to highlight the importance of the art and architecture of Britain and Ireland of all periods in the wider frame of European art history by their academic research and teaching. The processes of exchange between Britain and the continent will receive a special focus from FAHBI.

FAHBI is based at the Institute of European Art History and Archaeology at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.
