Published by the Saxon Academy of the Arts and the SLUB Dresden, this exhibition catalogue presents 18 contemporary artists and their creative process. These artists use literary, photographic, graphic and painterly means to develop their ideas. Sketches, projects and workbooks are included from the following members of the Visual Arts area of the Academy: Hartwig Ebersbach, Wieland Förster, Eberhard Göschel, Gotthard Graubner, Ralf Kerbach, Gerda Lepke, Walter Libuda, Ulrich Lindner, Michael Morgner, Carsten Nicolai, Osmar Osten, Thea Richter, Cornelia Schleime, Jürgen Schön, Gundula Schulze Eldowy, Strawalde, Günther Uecker, Max Uhlig .

The special interest collection at SLUB Dresden focusing on "Contemporary Art since 1945, Photography, Industrial Design and Commercial Graphic Arts" maintains an extensive collection of literature on these artists, which is available for research at arthistoricum.net
